Securing the Future for Our VT Homeland Security Employees

With the Executive Branch waging an attack on the job security of
many federal workers, morale among DHS employees is low. Senator
Bernie Sanders invites federal employees to a meeting to discuss the
threat of privatization, working conditions, and how we can move
towards improving the situation for our valued federal employees at
the Department of Homeland Security.

The meeting was attended by NBPC VP Erik Sparkman, Local 2724 VP John Zavala and
Local 2724 Newport Station Rep. Ross Schofield.  Although much of the meeting was
geared to the potential for privatization of many jobs with-in the DHS.  There was an
opportunity to bring to light the issues facing the members of our local.  Primarily
Infrastructure issues and staffing.   Also discussed was the issues facing our Sector
Enforcement Specialists and their bargaining rights.  Thank you Senator Bernie Sanders
and his constitutes for giving this forum for open discussion.
